I agree, it does get kind of boring when everybody blogs about the same old books, and it’s nice to see reviews of books that are as well-known/recognised. iffathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17664534547074552352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21582709.post-58913343206759583622013-03-14T20:07:46.686+00:002013-03-14T20:07:46.686+00:00Hurrah! I love that they have a lot of back titles that I don't hear of much from other book bloggers - everyone's focus seems on the latest books and it's nice to read something different.Michelle Fluttering Butterflieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08793681725475475156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21582709.post-26689726888255108492013-03-14T20:05:13.889+00:002013-03-14T20:05:13.889+00:00Yeah, I get that. I wonder sometimes if I should be reading and reviewing more self-published titles, but I'm still wary of them.Michelle Fluttering Butterflieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08793681725475475156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21582709.post-44765908418484612362013-03-14T20:04:34.525+00:002013-03-14T20:04:34.525+00:00Thanks for the lovely comment Rebecca! I think it's fairly easy to fall into a hole of reading mostly American authors, which is a shame because there are some amazing books out there by British authors! This is one of the reasons why I love your blog so much because you're so passionate about supporting us and I think some of us could really take a leaf out of your books. Plus lots and lots of hype tends to put me off, because I feel pressured to like it.
I already had the Disappeared on my to-read shelf, but I've added the first two to my list :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06606826103804384886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21582709.post-89765044747389145672013-03-08T09:44:44.061+00:002013-03-08T09:44:44.061+00:00I'm reading a book that was sent to me in Janu...I'm reading a book that was sent to me in January about the first world war - just typical historical fiction but because it's self-published it's not getting the sort of hype that other books get.Anyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08782012259870311268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21582709.post-26227797041652373132013-03-08T09:43:03.401+00:002013-03-08T09:43:03.401+00:00Totally agree! When I first started blogging I wanted to read the books that the rest of the blogosphere seemed to not be reading which at the time was authors like Paul Dowswell, N.M Browne (both of which are British actually). I think American books have kind of taken over our culture book-wise especially with series like The Hunger Games and Divergent - that's why it's nice to see features like your Celebrating British Authors.
I just had a look at my read list on Goodreads. Out of 210 books, only 10 had ratings lower than 100. That's bad really. LOVE this post, Clover! :) Rebecca-Bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05746880144761716004noreply@blogger.com
