Boxcar Children

I was standing at my mother-in-law's back door looking at the garden, which I've always loved. And it just occurred to me why I love it so much. My favourite book as a child was The Boxcar Children (which I didn't realise you CAN get in this country - I imported them from our supplier in America when I was working at Books Etc) Anyway though, my copy had just the best illustrations (I was 6) and I've just realised the back garden here looks just like the last illustration of The Boxcar Children, where everything ends happily. I couldn't find that illustration (the first time google has let me down?) and my copy of the book is in storage waiting for my son to be old enough to read it. So, here's another illustration I found, which is still nice.

  3. The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner - it's a big long series of books, of which the first is by far the best. The illustration I recognise from my copy, but I don't know if it's in all of them (the newish versions) And I adored the whole series. Some friends of the family bought me the whole series, and I read them all during the Christmas break :)

  4. Cool, thanks. I haven't read that, might have to see if I can track it down to try. I think it reminds me of an Enid Blyton illustration, but I can't remember which book!

Thanks for adding me to your links by the way. I am very flattered.
