Subway

OK, so there was a time (in my not so distant past) where making even a simple decision like 'would you like cherry or blueberry pie?' was enough to make me want to curl up and die. I couldn't for the life of me make up my mind on anything. To this day, what's your favourite...? still makes me a little nervous. As stupid as it is, I was afraid of making the wrong decision, even over pie. This should probably be written about differently in another entry for another day, because it has more to do with what other people think of me, but whatever, that's not what I wanted to write about for now. Subway used to be one of those places I avoided like the plague because it made my knees shake with all the choices I had to make. Six inch or 12? Which type of bread? And filling? Cheese or no? Which vegetables? Sauce? All too much. And I'm completely serious about this, this isn't me exaggerating (which I know I'm prone to do) but now that I have a little better grip on myself, I quite like Subway. I usually get the same thing everytime (6 inch chicken teriyaki on honey oat; not toasted; with cheese; with lettuce, tomato, peppers, cucumbers and olives; with the sweet onion sauce) because habits are hard to break and that's just generally what I'm like. I know I'll like this sandwich, so I'll stick with it. Same with pizza, Chinese and Indian takeaway, I get the same thing. I already made the decision of what to get, I don't want to make it again. Anyway, yesterday we nipped into Subway before house viewings and GASP! I got something different. I got the cheese steak. And it was yummy, a thousand times better than 'the usual,' so I'm thinking I better change the way I order...

  1. Oh, I hear ya! I'm a very picky eater so when I find something I like, I tend to avoid venturing into the unknown. Yes, it gets boring. But every once in a while, I get a little bold, too.

  2. I hear you! I almost always get the same thing at the resturant or the drive through. It seems that anytime I get something new I always regret it! Stick with the tried and true I say!

  3. LOL, I always go with 12" BMT on Italian Herb and Cheese bread with lettuce, green pepper and honey mustard sauce.

I shall try the cheese steak in your honour, but not on Thursday as that's when the BMT is the Sub-of-the-Day!
