House Update
So, OK houses. Our hunt for a bigger house has become such a little soap opera. I've loved so many houses and gotten my hopes up only to find out that the house is in a bad neighbourhood, or no, we can't extend and make it like we want, or we've had to pull out because the kitchen will need to be redone and it pushes the house out of our budget, or the house is too far away from the things we need and therefore unsuitable. And we keep jumping between staying in London or going further out, if we'll be living with my mother-in-law or buying separate places. ANYWAY. We went to see just two houses on Saturday. One that looked really good, and one as a backup. The first house was so depressing. There was nothing structurally wrong with it, and it would serve our purposes quite well. But it was so depressing. The carpets and wallpaper, the kitchen cupboards, the cupboard doors in the bedrooms, everything looked so OLD. And what a disappointment it was driving through such a really nice neighbourhood with noticeably expensive, posh houses to get to that house and for it to be such a letdown. Inside as well as out. Oh well. And of course, the backup house looked so much better. I shouldn't be getting my hopes up about it, and I don't want to talk about its features, but I love it. I'll keep you posted.

Soap opera, huh? Get this, my husband and I decided to spontaneously look for a house last summer when I was in my 9th month. We must have been to look at 40 different within a matter of days, some of which were too nasty to even describe. Anyway, just weeks before Maddie was born, we bought a house that was on the market for a very long time (understandably so considering its state). When Maddie was one month old, we moved out of our apartment and in with my in-laws while my hubby and his father renovated practically the entire house. Six months later we finally moved in. Yikes!
