IMM 9

Here are the many books that arrived in my house this week! As always, IMM is hosted by the lovely lady over at The Story Siren... Check her out.

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
It's Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini
Getting the Girl by Markus Zusak
Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott
The Boy Book by E. Lockhart
Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Yes, yes, yes. That is a lot more books than I normally buy. BUT! Aside from Mockingjay (which N bought me! Thanks N!) all of these books were purchased with an amazon voucher, given to me for my birthday (By my good friend, A, who more than likely does not read my blog. No matter, thanks anyway A!) How much am I looking forward to these books?!

Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill
Torment by Lauren Kate
Almost True by Keren David (not pictured)
White Cat by Holly Black

A huge thank you to Emma at ASAMUM BOOKTOPIA for sending me White Cat. Very much looking forward to it! Also, thanks goes to Lynsey Newton for organising UK Book Tour books for the other three books! I've since read and sent my copy of Almost True off to the next person on the tour, hence the no photo.

And no picture (too lazy) but here are the two books acquired this week via a book-swapping website. I'm finding less and less books to swap lately, so I'm glad I've come away with something finally.

Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen
Thursday's Child by Sonya Hartnett

And for the final lot of books! Some books checked out from the library:

The Cardturner by Louis Sachar
Hero by Perry Moore
Black Orchid by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean
Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

I do so love the library. I'm hoping Black Orchid is a stand-alone graphic novel (anyone know?) and how much have I been looking forward to this new Louis Sachar book?! YAY.

So that's it for me, which books have come into your house this week?

  2. Jellicoe Road is an amazing book - one of the best I've read this year, and now firmly one of my all time favourites. I just read White Cat last week and enjoyed it a lot, much more than I enjoyed Holly Black's other stuff. Hope you love them all!

  3. Liz R - I'm reading Torment at the moment, it's all right. I only just liked Fallen so I have pretty low expectations :)

Ooh, Splendibird - favourite ever? Wow, that's just bumped JR up the list. And I've heard really good things about White Cat! I didn't like her fairy books, but I'm hoping this will be good :)

  6. Sophie - I agree about Mockingjay and I'm really excited about Keeping the Moon - it was the book that's been on my wishlist the longest, so was really happy to swap for it!

Becca - Living Dead Girl intrigues me as it seems very different to the other Elizabeth Scott books I've read so far.

  7. I didn't love Fallen either, to be honest, the ending really confused me. I just want to read Torment to get some answers! I hope you like it better than the first :P. And let me know your thoughts on White Cat once you've finished!

  10. Liz R - Torment is slightly annoying me. I'd like Luce to grow a backbone and stop being so co-dependent. Sigh. Hopefully I'll enjoy White Cat better :)

    Kirsty - thank you!

    Jess - I shall have a look in a bit :)

Emma - it has been a good week, I can't wait to get started! :)

  11. Luce was actually my main issue with Fallen. "Let's walk into the dark woods with a stranger, shall we?" TSTL. Let's hope she's a bit more sensible by the third book :P.

  12. Liz R - the ending of Torment totally changed my mind about the whole book! There is some hope :)
