Library Haul

Just as I was about to give up on my local library entirely and walk 10 miles (exaggeration but pretty close!) to a different library, I come across these books. And it has been a long, long time since I've been this excited about my book selection. I have no idea which one to read first...

Peter Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean (yay for Peter Pan)
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (read a bunch of reviews of it)
Finding Violet Park by Jenny Valentine (I adored Broken Soup)
Man in the Dark by Paul Auster (never heard of this before by one of my favourite authors)
The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares (by the author of one of my favourite series?)
Acting Up by Melissa Nathan (a retelling of Pride and Prejudice)
Stardust by Neil Gaiman (will this be my first ever Gaiman?)

Is it possible to read 7 books at one time and enjoy them all?!

  1. Stardust was my 'book of 2007' - I loved it and thought it so much better than the film. Enjoy x

  2. Yes. If you are really good at multi-tasking. :)

  3. Just be aware that even though it's "official" Scarlet has a lot of mistakes in from J.M. Barrie's original stories.

For a Peter Pan adventure that's faithful and based on Barrie's own idea for more, click my name.

  4. I've not read the others, but Stardust was really fantastic. Way better than the moview - as is most often the case.

  5. Ooh, ooh!!! I read Man in the Dark a few weeks ago, and it was excellent! I've read some reviews that say Auster needs to change up some of his writerly tricks, but I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.

  6. I didn't get into peter pan in scarlet but then nothing can compare to the original, I'm just hard to please. I hope you enjoy Stardust though Neil Gaiman rocks.

  7. Love the pic! Were the books all piled up somewhere ready for the librarian to take home? ;o)

  8. Hello from New Zealand.
I read once that as a parent, we should be happy if our child's idea of home decorating is putting up new shelves for lining the walls with more books. I was lucky. I grew up with books and have many in our home. Having piles of new books and being excited about having seven to read at once is my idea of bliss... along with blogging lol

HI! Thank you for leaving a comment, you've just become my new best friend :)
