So far..

..November is kicking my ass. On this, day three, the fun new adventure is a dry, hacking cough. That's very persistent. And which kept me up most of the night. No, that's not strictly true.

Have you ever read a book and thought 'god, I wish I'd written that'? I do it all the time, and most recently it was this book: Finding Violet Park by Jenny Valentine. It's kind of a sad book, a teenage boy finds an urn that was abandoned in a cab five years earlier and never been collected so he starts this journey to find more about this dead woman, Violet Park. In doing so, he comes to terms with his own family and his father's disappearance. What I loved so much about it is the humour that comes out of these dysfunctional situations. And the perceptiveness. I wish I was the type of reader who highlights great passages whilst reading, because there are so many great insights into how the main character relates to his family and how they relate to each other. I wish I was that aware of myself and my surroundings.

My secret ambition is to write a YA novel like this one. And I was up for later than I should have been thinking about this book. (and let's be honest, writing this blog entry in my head)
