Uni classes

Have I mentioned before that I want to go back to university and finally finish my degree? I do. Though because of everything that's happened (I was studying one subject then changed my mind and went into a different direction, failed at it and wasted a lot of money and time) I don't feel very confident going back. I feel like I failure and I hate that I messed up, but this time I do have a lot of interest in the subject that I'd be studying (the degree would be for social sciences) and I'm looking forward to moving on with this part of my life, but I'm still afraid. Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the courses I'd be looking into taking. I'd only have to take 5 of these, but I can't narrow it down:

An Introduction to the Social Sciences: Understanding social Change

Child Development

Childhood

Personal Lives and Social Policy

Social Psychology: Critical Perspectives on Self and Others

Exploring Psychology

Social Policy: Welfare, Power and Diversity

Working with Children and Families

The courses that deal with children and childhood are my favourite, and it sort of leads me to the idea that I possibly might want a career in working with children somehow. Like maybe I had the childhood that I did, in order to help those in a similar position? This idea has only just occurred to me just this second and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

  2. I think the few years you have been away from college will have given you a better appreciation of it. I had about two years where I slacked off and took basically no classes, but when I decided to finish, I got a 4.0 for the rest of my school career because I was that much more committed.

  5. I would have majored in Child Development had my professor not moved to another university. It is so interesting and wonderful!

Don't be nervous - being an older student is so much better - your grades are way better than they were when you were younger because older students tend to be more motivated. I think you will do fine!

    Good LucK!
