Confession

I was asked out in high school exactly once. One time. It was freshman year and it went something like this... I was standing in front of my locker and a guy friend came running towards me, really excited and says 'Michelle, will you go out with...' and I don't remember there being MUCH of a pause before what he said next, but my brain went into overdrive and I started to think 'hmm, never thought about going out with this guy before, it might be nice...' when I catch the rest of his question. '....with my friend, (really geeky) John*?' Except he didn't say the part about him being geeky. (but he totally was, and yes, I've always been attracted to some form of geekiness, but this guy was too much, even for me)(names changed solely for embarassment reasons as some readers, who I went to high school with may or may not know who I'm referring to) And of course, to make things so much more awkward for all involved, John was standing right behind my guy friend, waiting for my answer. I said no as kindly as an embarassed, on-the-spot 14 year old can say no, and John and Guy-Friend ran off to the next girl either recognised to try again. So not much disappointment on my rejection, apparently. And that is my high school lovelife covered. Tragic, isn't it?
