Library Loot 8

I regularly visit three libraries within my borough, but every once in awhile I'll make the trek out to libraries far away to pick up a book I really want to to read. Today, I saw that Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer was in stock at one of these far-away libraries and made the (20 minute) journey out there. Except I couldn't find it on the shelf, the helpful librarian couldn't find it on the shelf and Joshua was having a mini-meltdown because I wouldn't let him grab books off the shelves and fling them here, there and everywhere. So I left without the book I really wanted, and ended up with these instead. I'm only slightly disappointed.

1. Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones The sequel to Howl's Moving Castle! Finally!
2. The Sisters Grimm: The Fairy Tale Detectives by Michael Buckley
I read about this one someone's blog. Maybe it was yours?
3. The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson
The *only* Maureen Johnson book in our library system. Do you guys follow her on twitter? You should, she's hilarious.
4. The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver
I didn't finish WNTTAK, but what I did read of it was good...
5. Queen of Babble Gets Hitched by Meg Cabot
YAY! Meg Cabot!
6. Fairest by Gail Carson Levine
Picked up on a whim. Set in the same world as Ella Enchanted.

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and Marg that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

Have you entered my giveaway for If I Stay by Gayle Forman?

  1. I never think to visit other libraries in the area. I don't even use the one in my own little village. I make the trek to the next town. I shall make an effort to visit other libraries when I finish my pile of books.

  2. Hi! I just found your blog & love the butterfly graphics!:) Looks like your library visit was a success even though you did not get the book you were looking for.

    Greetings,

  3. Wow, I didn't know there was a companion to Ella Enchanted! I loved that book so much when I was younger. Thanks for letting me know about it!

  5. As they say, great minds think alike :P I'll have to add Maureen Johnson on Twitter!

Castle in the Sky is very good, even if not quite as good as Howl's. Happy reading!

Please check my blog for a big contest in honor of a new YA book coming out this month. It's amazing so far and the author is great.

  10. That's a pretty impressive effort - go for one book and come home with six others.

I am lucky I guess in that as long as it is in the same council area (borough) then they will transfer between branches instead of having to drive from one to the other.

  11. Marg - That's usually how it happens with me. Six books is pretty average of my usual library haul. Inter-library transfers cost money in my borough :(

Shadowfalcon - I actually returned Castle in the Air. I just didn't feel like it, despite looking forward to reading it for awhile. Bad timing, I guess.

Quacky - very interesting. I'm not sure what to say.

Jen - only read two in the end! Queen of Babble Gets Hitched and Fairest. But at least both of those were really good!

Eva - yes. I agree. Even though I couldn't get into most of these!

Nymeth - Did you read Fairest yet? or Bermudez Triangle?

Becca - liked the series, but didn't love them. Not sure why.

shanaginsbook - Hope you caught my review as well. Probably not.

Tiina - Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I quite like my butterflies, but I always wonder if maybe it's a bit too much?

Scrap - Libraries are my happy place. I love going to new ones.
