Oh I had so much fun doing a favourite TV couples post last year, that I thought I would do it again! If nothing else, you can all laugh at all the trashy television that I watch :)
Please do share your own favourite TV couples in comments, I'd love to hear them! In no particular order...
Liz and Max from Roswell - Here's my confession: I freaking LOVE Roswell. It's so angsty and melodramatic and downright cheesy and ridiculous in parts, but I still love it. And while I probably relate better to Michael and Maria's slightly dysfunctional relationship, it was the intensity of Liz and Max that had me glued to my TV set.
Sydney and Vaughn from Alias - I wanted to include this couple on last year's list as well, and the only reason why I didn't was because the series took this couple into strange territory towards the end of the show. I like Sydney and Vaughn during the first two series the most. I just couldn't take my eyes off the two of them during the show. Very hot.
Sean and Meghan from Felicity - And from a previous JJ Abrams show, we have this odd couple. N and I have been rewatching Felicity lately and I absolutely adore Sean and Meghan. I've always thought Sean to be utterly adorable, but this pair together and hilarious and sweet. I love that they're always fighting and making up.
Cory and Topanga from Boy Meets World - Last year, a regular reader (Hi Kenny!) left a comment on my first list of TV couples mentioning Cory and Topanga and OH MY GOD, how I had forgotten this iconic couple? OK, probably not iconic for most people, but I grew up loving Cory and Topanga. I thought they were the epitome of love when I was little. I loved how Topanga really grew from being Cory's eccentric friend into so much more. Aww, I love these two.
Matt and Julie from Friday Night Lights - Friday Night Lights has very quickly jumped onto my list of all-time favourite TV programmes. I adore it. I love the story and the characters. I love the football and these great relationships between friends and family as well as of the romantic kind. Taylor Kitsch is, of course, a huge reason to watch the show, but Riggins' relationships were never my favourite. I fancied Tim more, but my heart ached for nice-guy Matt and his sweet relationship with Julie. While sometimes I found Julie to be irritating, my crush on Matt Saracen never wavered. And I wanted these two to work out.
Chuck and Blair from Gossip Girl - I love when a programme makes me change my mind about characters. Never more so than with Gossip Girl. I really hated both Chuck and Blair when I first started watching, but over time I've grown to really love them and they are now the only reason I still watch the show (off and on!). I love how broken and awful they both are but they seem so perfect for each other.
Elena and Damon from The Vampire Diaries - The Vampire Diaries is a show that I don't watch regularly. It's a programme that dip into every now and again, but the absolute best thing about the show, for me, is Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon Salvatore. Man, I love him. Forget the other brother, I'm rooting for Damon!
Kurt and Blaine from Glee - This one is sort of a strange choice for me. I don't watch a lot of television these days and when I do, I rarely catch up on the episodes that I miss. I just keep watching the show from then and hope nothing is too confusing. So I didn't see how Kurt and Blaine ended up together, but I just think they are both so sweet and I in particular love the goofy/adorable look on Kurt's face when he's around Blaine.
Seth and Summer from The OC - OHHH! I could not even begin to tell how much I love Seth from The OC. I really, really love him. He's so awkward and nerdy and adorable. I so desperately wanted to see him happy. I didn't love Summer right from the start, but she's another character that I really came to think differently about. I really wanted Seth and Summer to work out!
These are mine, now tell me your favourite TV couples?
You've picked some great couples! I loved Alias :)
ReplyDeleteI also really love the whole Chuck and Blair ongoing saga.
I love Alias too! I'm hoping its the next series of shows we rewatch. (we're watching Felicity at the moment)
DeleteANd I just can't resist Chuck and Blair.
Oh Matt and Julie *sighs*
ReplyDeleteThere are some great choices here, and despite how much tv I watch there are a couple of shows I've never seen.
I love Matt and Julie! They're just so sweet together.
DeleteAre you saying that I watch more TV than TV-obsessed you? :) I used to, but not so much anymore!
Aww, great list! I think Kurt and Blaine's relationship is so cute too, even though I have only seen 3 episodes of Glee.. :D
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely! You and I didn't need to see the entire beginning of their relationship to know that they are adorable together :)
DeleteI don't know most of these couples, but I do love Damon! He's so awesome! :D
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more!
DeleteApart from the fact that you missed out on some great Australian TV , you also seem to have bypassed Mulder & Scully, and Merlin and Arthur.. 'clean my armour'...
ReplyDeleteAustralian TV HAHA! ..but I mentioned Mulder and Scully last year :)
DeleteHello! Fab post. I love lists of things!
ReplyDeleteMy fave tv couple: Tim and Daisy from Spaced!

Ooh, I've never heard of Tim and Daisy from Spaced! But thanks for commenting :)
DeleteOoooh love Kurt and Blaine! My all-time favourite TV couple is Ross and Rachel from Friends. They've had issues, but it's SO obvious that they're meant for each other! I also like Jason and Aria from Pretty Little Liars. Well they're not actually a couple, but I think they should be! Great post :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you on ROss and Rachel! They are definitely my favourite ever couple from TV. (I wrote about them last year, which is why they aren't on the list this year)
DeleteAnd I don't watch Pretty Little Liars, is it good?
Great post - I want to see your choices from last year too! I have to admit, I never saw most of these shows, but I'm with you on Seth and Summer, and I'd completely forgotten about Boy Meets World!
ReplyDeleteMy current faves are most of the Downton Abbey pairs, especially Sybil and Branson, and I'm loving the current Skins pairing of Mini and Alo.
Can't beat the old favourites though - Neighbours' Scott and Charlene and Happy days' Joanie and Chachi - the originals!
N would definitely agree with you on Scott and Charlene (I didn't grow up with Australian soap operas like you guys did!) and I really should watch Downton Abbey.
DeleteJust saw someone put Tim and Daisy from Spaced - my all time favourite show!
ReplyDelete..which I've never even heard of! It must be a recent show?
DeleteCory and Topanga, elena and Damon, Kurt and Blaine and Chuck and Blair are some of my favourites too. Especially Chuck and Blair - there's just something about those two that completely works.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. Chuck and Blair!
DeleteAww I much prefer Maria and Michael to Max and Liz! All Max and Liz do for 90% of the time is stare at each other and/or kiss. Maria and Michael just get on with it, and they have realistic relationship problems. Plus Maria is my favourite character from Roswell, whereas Max started to annoy me enormously midway through the second season.
ReplyDeleteOh Max definitely annoyed me as well as the series went on. And I completely agree that Maria and Michael had an actual relationship that felt realistic and believable. But I still prefer Max and Liz! Mostly because of the angstiness of their relationship :)
DeleteAww, Cory and Topanga, and Seth and Summer! I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteI would add:
Angel and Cordelia on Angel (even though so little ever came of it)
Piper and Leo on Charmed (every time they're apart my heart is like "Nooooooooo!")
Brian and Justin on Queer as Folk (season 1 finale: that's all I need to say)
Oh thank you so much for your suggestions! Charmed is definitely another show where I only watched it occasionally and never in order. I do remember liking Piper and Leo but I found myself confused by their relationship because I'd dip into the show now and again at different points!
DeleteI HAVE all of Angel, and I'm sure I must have SEEN all of Angel. But I don't really remember what happens with Angel and Cordelia? What happens? Oh no. This is going to bother me!
...I've never seen Queer as Folk!
Love this. I totally forgot about Boy Meets World, what a great show that was. x
ReplyDeleteWasn't it?! I really loved it :)
DeleteCorey and topanga!!!! I LOVED THEM!!!! Awesome couples again this year!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Raimy :) I had to laugh at the CAPITAL letters and all the exclamation marks in your comment!!! Very enthusiastic, I like.
