And so September begins..

The first morning of the first day after my holiday and the first thing I did? I went to the library to pick up new books. Who's suprised? Anybody? Anybody? No? Me either.

1. Black Juice by Margo Lanagan - short stories by the author of Tender Morsels. I'm not a huge fan of short stories but I really liked the cover of this one. I'm hoping for something a little creepy or weird.

2. Emotionally Weird by Kate Atkinson - I think Kate Atkinson has become an author that I admire, but strangely from afar, because I have only read one of her books yet own several more!

3. The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale - something keeps bringing me back to Shannon Hale. Had to return another of her books to the library unread but I seem to gravitate to her name without ever reading anything of hers. Odd.

4. Trespess by Valerie Martin - author of Property, which I haven't read. Why do I pick up certain books and not others? I'd really like to know.

5. Runemarks by Joanne Harris - Had wanted to read this for awhile, always been put off by the length of it. Not sure what changed this time around, but here I am, holding my copy of it. Let's see what happens.

There we have it. The first selection of books to begin September. I find my choice of books slowly shifting from the fun and light-hearted to something more serious and grown-up, as we're shifting from summer to fall. Possibly. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

  1. You have Runemarks- I am so jealous. You are definitely as bad as me for the library. I am banning myself from ordering any books unless I specifically need them for a challenge. I many need to join Librarys Anonymous. Glad to hear you had a fabulous holiday, you are definitely right - it seems like ages since we last spoke.

Michelle - you might be able to help me, how do I get the email follow up comments box to come up on my comments section. Someone asked and I haven't clue where to find it.

  2. I really need to go back and read some of Kate Atkinsons other books. I have read all the Jackson Brodie novels but none of the others!

    Interesting loot this week.

  3. Good stuff! I look forward to hearing how they turn out for you.

I read Property and thought it was very well done, so perhaps you will enjoy Valerie Martin.

  4. I don't know who Hale is but now I sure must look her up

  5. I noticed Trespass; Martin in your stack. I really liked that book; hope you do too.

  6. The first story in Black Juice is awesome!!! I had to return to library before I finished, but there were definitely some interesting ones in there.

  7. I have a couple Atkinson but havent' read them. I keep picking up Maureen Johnson (YA) and not reading them, but am drawn to them anyway.

I don't have anything new from the library, I just keep renewing the ones from several weeks ago.

  8. Michelle, you should really pick up The Goose Girl. I read it not too long ago and although I haven't had a chance to review it I absolutely loved it! I can't wait to read more by Hale!

  9. I love Shannon Hale :) And The Goose Girl is a great place to start!

HI! Thank you for leaving a comment, you've just become my new best friend :)
