Books read in September

I know Fridays are meant to be my book discussion days, but I'm running low on the creativity at the moment. So I'm afraid, for this week it will be a boring list of the books I've read in September. I've been through a long spate of reading slump-ness and haven't finished a book in weeks. Big sadness. I'm hoping that October will bring a renewed enthusiasm for books! and reading! But we shall see.

141. Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn
142. Torment by Lauren Kate
143. Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott
144. The Boy Book by E. Lockhart
145. Take Me There by Susane Colasanti
146. I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
147. Withering Tights by Louise Rennison
148. The Cardturner by Louis Sachar

And look at that, before my reading slump started, I'd read 8 books. The good side? I am managing to catch up on writing my reviews (I've written reviews for all of the books I've read this month, they just haven't been published yet)! The down side? I can't see an end in sight for this book drought. I am surrounded by books that I'd like to read, but can summon no energy to actually read them. Oh well.

I think my favourite book of the month would be... ? Oh I thought it might be easy. It's a tie between The Boy Book by E Lockhart, Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn and The Cardturner by Louis Sachar. But because I can't choose 3 favourites from 8 books, I'm going to say the winner is Gingerbread.

For October, my plan is to be relaxed about what I'm reading. To only pick up a book when I feel like it with no pressure whatsover.

What was your favourite book to read in September?

  1. I think my reading slump is because I felt too pressured by challenges which I have dropped now. I just want to read whatever I like now.

  2. I know no reader would normally want to admit this, but I do believer that most of us at some point do go through a reading slump. I'm also currently in one, but I've just decided I'm really going to take it easy - and also, while I'm not reading, I can catch up on reviews too. So, either way, you'll still be doing something book related. That reading slump? It will go away.

  3. I'm in a similar slump...partly because I REALLY want to read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, and I've had it on hold at my library since late July. :/ Good luck banishing your reading slump!

  4. This title would be so much less confusing if "to read" had different spellings in its present and past tense, I knew what month it was, I had adequate amounts of sleep. Sorry to hear that your slump persists. I am nearing the end of Sophie's World, but almost two books this September is probably almost two better than last September, so there is that.

  5. Kenny - srry for the confusion! Also, I LOVE Sophie's World. One of my favourite required reading books from high school :)

Zara - OH NOES! I hope you get hold of a copy soon and your slump disappears. Horrible place to be in.

thebookfairyhaven - Oh and it has :) You're right, we all go through periods like this, all we can do is make the best out of them!

Vivienne - that IS normally the reason behind my slumps - whenever I feel overly pressurised to read certain books. Good plan dumping your reading challenges, I haven't been paying attention to ANY of mine this year!
