Faye from A Daydreamer's Thoughts (Celebrating British Bloggers)

I met Faye only recently and have been enjoying getting to know her through her blog posts and chatting with her over Twitter.

I know it's something that I bang on a bit, but I love that Faye takes part in a meme that allows for bloggers to step away from books for the most part and blog a bit about more personal things or about other aspects of their lives and other interests.  I love this, I wish more book bloggers embraced this and joined in with the Behind the Blog feature.

First, can you tell me something about yourself and your blog?

Well, my name is Faye - *hi* - and I'm 22 and have just graduated from university where I studied film and television. And at the beginning of November I will be starting a new job as a library assistant in my local library - that I'm really looking forward to! I have always been a lover of all things books and films and my blog reflects that. It started out as a book and film blog but has recently become more about books than films. It is mostly YA related but I still read and review the odd adult book as well. I think that's a good amount of information, don't you?

How did you begin being a book blogger?

Well, I had been toying with the idea for a while. I had tried doing a film blog/magazine type thing for a year and it just never really worked so I was trying to think about something else to do. I wanted to do something unique and that was when the idea of a book and film blog came to mind. I have my old friend Brodie from Eleusinian Mysteries to thank for helping to encourage me into starting a blog though, if I hadn't had her support I probably would have stopped blogging a long time ago.

When you're not reading or blogging, what do you do with yourself?

You'll either find me at my cleaning job, hanging out at the cinema with friends, writing, or just watching tv series on DVDs or re-watching many hundreds of films. My life basically revolves around writing, films, and books.

What was the first book you reviewed on your blog?

The first book was One Day by David Nicholls which I actually did as a joint film and book review.

What has been the best experience of being a book blogger so far?

This is such a tricky question for me as there have just been so many great things but I think that it was probably participating in Bloggiesta as it was really helpful and just really helped my new-blogger-self understand the blogging world more. Aside from that, meeting and making new friends is definitely one of the best things about blogging.

You can do it, what is your absolute favourite book?

Here I really should just say the Harry Potter series because I am a hardcore fan - I've even written fan fiction for it - but really my favourite book is definitely Lucas by Kevin Brooks. It's a UK book (has to be, right?), and is the first book I read that didn't have a happy ending. It was a really powerful story and one that has just stuck with me for many years.

If you could be best friends with any fictional character, who would you choose?

A tough question - especially as I generally have a memory like a damn sieve - but I would probably say Harper from Saving June. The girl is a lot like me in the way she acts so I'm sure we would brush up against each other a fair few times but she seems like such a great person who I would love to actually know in real life.

If you could meet your favourite author, who would you like to meet?

Again, I should put J.K. Rowling here because I would definitely find myself melting at her feet because she has been my rock since I was eleven but I think I would love to meet Kevin Brooks because Lucas was not his only book that I loved. But of course, there is also Malorie Blackman who has my heart...

What would you like to see more of or less of in YA?

I would love to see more stories with less insta-love in them. I like the romance in YA stories when it really focuses on the connections in the relationship and it doesn't seem illogic where they just are 'OMG I LOVE YOU' straight away.

And finally, who is your ultimate book crush?

First person to come to my mind was Four from Divergent.
