Top Ten Bookish and Blogging goals in 2014

This year I will be participating in Top Ten Tuesday as often as I can manage. It is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is one I was going to write about anyway: my bookish or blogging goals in 2014.

Reading goals

No pressure reading

This is a big one for me this year. I did free reading in December and it finally got me out of my reading slumps. I want 2014 to be the year that I finally go through the year without a reading funk of any kind!

Read outside my comfort zone

I've been thinking about it lately and I think I like it when I push myself to read very different things. The books that push me out of my comfort zone are mostly historical fiction so I'd like to do more of that this year.

Read more books with my boys

I think I've mentioned it a few times but I am part of a Family Book Club in which I read books with my two boys.  We sit around reading and then talk about them afterwards... it's really great and I want to read more books with them this year. We keep getting distracted by other things.

Continue to support UKYA

I think I'm only signed up this year to one reading challenge, the British Books Challenge hosted by Sarah from Feeling Fictional. Last year I wanted to read 50 books and I managed 58 books. This year I want to get through as many as I can without putting any specific numerical value on it!

Cut down my TBR pile

I have far too many books on my physical TBR pile. So for the foreseeable future, I am on a book buying ban (e-books obviously excluded!) and I'd like to do my best to reduce the number of books I have on these shelves. I think I need to be pretty ruthless about the books that I've had on there for a very long time as well...

Blogging goals

Continue vlogging at Bookish Brits and start uploading videos to my personal channel

I'm pretty surprised by how much I enjoy booktubing! I shall be doing more of it in 2014.

Write reviews more regularly

As a book blogger it's a bit strange to admit - but I'm pretty crap at writing reviews.  I really need to get better at writing them pretty soon after finishing a book. Also? Writing more reviews of books. My percentage overall is pretty low.

Keep Feedly more up-to-date

I always go through phases of  keeping up-to-date and then that is followed by weeks and weeks of not reading. I need a better balance.

Comment more

This goal and the previous goal are pretty related. I love commenting on other blogs/booktube channels.

Attend more events and blogger meet-ups

I'm attending a couple of events this month but I'm thinking that if there aren't any more events planned or scheduled soon then I'll have to organise some blogger meet-ups soon. (Let me know if you're interested)

What are your bookish and bloggish goals this year?

    1. Yes, it seems a popular goal this year (and every year, eh?!) :)

  3. I'm really hoping to review more books this year, too. Sometimes I just want to read a book and enjoy it and not even think about how to blog about it. :)
I try to read with my two boys, too. We got out of the habit over the holidays but I'm trying to start back up again.

    1. I did have to go count the number of unread books I had on my shelves... it's still a large number but I was surprised it wasn't higher! :)

  6. Good luck with your goals! It looks like you are already doing really well on the booktubing front. I think I would definitely like to cut down by TBR while at the same time being more free in my reading. And yes to more blogger meetups!
