Four Years

So, it's World Cup time again. I like this time of year. But now it just reminds me that it's been FOUR YEARS since we went to Hawaii. It doesn't seem that long ago at all! I remember we'd booked the holiday forgetting that the World Cup would start, and anyway it wasn't the holiday we'd planned. We were going to go to New York, but ended up changing out tickets to go to San Francisco instead (where I have lots of family and friends of the family) and then onto Hawaii. It couldn't have been more beautiful (and friendly)! We got home in time to catch the finals, and I had an odd tan on my back and had my sister-in-law's wedding to go to in early July and my dress showed this off completely, oops. Hawaii was brilliant. I brought home this: it's a handmade lamp carved out of a coconut shell. The butterflies were carved from the inside the shell. Sorry the photo is a little dark - it's currently sitting on the topmost shelf out of reach of grubby little Boy hands. It's one of my most prized possessions.

  1. My mom lives in Hawaii and the kids and I spend the month of August over there every year... it is so wonderful!

I love that lamp, btw... it is absolutely gorgeous!
