Reading, Listening to, Watching...

It seems these days that infrequent blog posts are the norm for me. I'm not sure what's going on, to be honest. I keep writing down ideas for posts and then never get around to them, my laziness is going into overdrive. Here's what I've been doing lately:

Reading: Currently, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. It's one of those books that I'd wanted to read for ages and have heard good things about, but never got around to reading it. I'm liking it so far, but have only managed the first few chapters. Also on my bedside table are Atonement and Saturday by Ian McEwan, which are both 1001 books... I haven't been using the library because of my enormous fines, but I'm finding that I don't have the same motivation in finishing books when I own the books I'm reading. I did go into the library the other day though, to kill an hour and managed to read the first 30 or so pages of The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. Too many books to read, not enough time.

Listening to: I've been in a mellow mood for music lately. And to me that means Sarah McLachlan, and lately also Rosie Thomas. Very soothing music, which is just what I've needed. N has downloaded loads of new music though, so that might be interesting...

Watching: I watch too much TV. I know this, but I can't help myself. I've just started season 2 of Smallville, which I have on DVD, but who knew there were 7 bloody seasons of the show? I'm a real sucker for teen dramas though, so I'm sure I'll manage it all eventually. Then season 2 of Prison Break is on Sky, and they're showing season 2 of Dead Like Me which I'd not seen before. The new show Justice with Jack from Dawson's Creek and Jack from Alias is pretty good too. Then there's also Brothers and Sisters, and Ugly Betty will be showing this week... how do I manage to do anything else with so much stuff to watch on TV?! And actually this reminds me, somebody once wrote in a comment about the lack of British television on my lists of programmes that I watch and I just wanted to put this out there: what good (recent!) British programmes are there?!

Anyway, that's all for me.

  1. To be honest with you, I don't really like any of the British dramas. I used to watch Holby City but not any more. I still love Coronation St but that's about it for any type of British drama or soap. On the other hand, the Brits do comedy rather well so I'll give British comedies a go and a couple of those panel type shows like Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Eight of Ten Cats- but never Mock the Week which is utterly dreadful.

My brother tells me Shameless is definitely worth watching but I've never managed it yet.

Other than those, I only ever watch British documentaries and news programmes. The weekly series are all American.

I watch far too much tv as well.

  3. Well you have plenty of time to get geared up for NaBloPoMo then!

I'm on a waiting list for The Kite Runner now; I started Atonement a long time ago, but apparently it wasn't the right time for us :) I've started a lot of great books at the wrong time, but I find that if I wait for when it's destined to be, I end up enjoying them. Chocolat by Joanne Harris is my absolute favorite book--but I started and put it down about 3 times before I fell in love. I'm fickle like that ;)

I'm jealous that Season 2 of Prison Break has started for you; Sky is my lifeline down here in Italy too, but unfortunately we're on a different schedule. Season 3 of Lost started last week though, so I'm OK ;)
