Some of my favourite bloggers

Just for a bit of fun, today I thought I would share with you some of my favourite bloggers. I am subscribed to a huge amount of book blogs and as much as I try to keep up with every one of them, it is HARD. So, I've created folders within my Google Reader to separate my favourite blogs from disappearing in the madness that are my subscriptions. And here are just a handful of the very best...

Today seemed like a good day to spread some blogging love. To the lovely ladies who write this blogs, I adore you. And thank you.

Serendipity - Vivienne is like my book twin. We have such similar tastes in book, it's uncanny. I find myself picking up a book at the library or the charity shops, come home, check blogs and that very day, I will read that Vivienne is reading or has just read that very same book. Or it might happen the other way around. I love that. We haven't always agreed, naturally, the the disagreements on books are very rare, and I can rely on her for her great taste in books and her wonderful reviews. She's the mother of beautiful twin girls, lives by the seaside and is a keen scrapbooker. I wish I was as creative as she is. Her blog is one that I look forward to reading every day! Plus, all the cupcakes!

Chicklish - I adore Chicklish. The UK's first YA book blog, how can you resist it with a tagline like 'Reader, I snogged him' - seriously! Edited by the absolutely lovely author Luisa Plaja, with guest reviews by a whole slew of young readers (myself included the once, though it is slightly pushing the definition of 'young' there!), Chicklish is always letting me know the latest books to read. I've usually heard it there first! Thank you for pioneering the way for the rest of us, Chicklish!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Park benches and Bookends - Park benches and Bookends is a relatively new addition to my blog list, but once I started reading, I couldn't give it up. A husband and wife team collaborating on a blog together? How adorable is that? Chris and Jessica have very different tastes in books, which is quite refreshing! As is the literary slant of their reading - it is *wonderful* to read something other than YA on a book blog! And it is quite fun to see what these two will be reading next as it always seems a little unexpected, from the great American novel, to audio books, to classics, I will be here reading whatever it is.

-------------------------------------------------------------

So Many Books, So Little Time - It is a little funny how often I've bumped into Sophie, who blogs So Many Books, So Little Time, at a bookish event this year. First the Chicklish event, the John Green event in Waterstones Piccadilly, the Maggie Stiefvater/Jennifer Lyn Barnes event in Bath. I run into Sophie EVERYWHERE. And besides being very friendly, she has excellent taste in books. I can always rely on her reviews to be honest and insightful. She definitely reads books that make me very excited and writes about them in a way that makes me want to read them. She's gone on a bit of a break as she settles into uni, but when she returns to regular blogging, I will be very happy! Until the next time we run into each randomly in a bookstore.. :)

Asamum Booktopia - Ah, Emma is one of my favourite people ever. She's funny and generous and very supportive. I feel very priviledged to call her my friend. She has three adorable girls, all interested in very different books. She has a really fabulous job, as a teen librarian that takes up much more of her time, so I don't get a chance to chat with her as much as I used to, but I do so enjoy reading her blog. Her reviews always show a different and very interesting perspective to mine that I really enjoy exploring. She keeps things interesting on her blog by throwing in book-inspired music and trailers and her spotlights on other bloggers is partially the inspiration for this post. Keep up the good work :)

The Mountains of Instead - It's absolutely amazing how much I have in common with Sya at The Mountains of Instead. Obviously besides our love of reading (and as book bloggers, I'd imagine that's a fairly common occurrence), we both have young children and are studying psychology with the Open University! I really have not met many other YA book bloggers or YA readers with an interest in psychology, so it makes my heart happy to meet Sya. And to read her incredible blog. Even the titles of her review posts make me giggle, but the content on her blog is always interesting and thought-provoking. I adored her zombie-themed week of awhile ago - such thought and effort is put into her blog and I applaud the work that Sya has done.

Which are your favourite blogs to read? Whose blog has been making you happy or excited to read? I've told you mine, now it's your turn!

  3. Aw, thank you. I adore your blog too and yes we do think alike when it comes to books. You were one of the first book bloggers I ever came across nearly two years ago and it is fantastic to think we are still in contact. I am now going to check out all these other blogs, because they definitely sound like the type of blogs I would love.
