Ugh.

September, year before last, N and I gave up McDonalds. We'd never been huge McDonalds eaters before that, but it was a considerable sacrifice for us. Anyway, we still occasionally get the urge to have a Big Mac, and we don't always completely avoid the place. I'd say in the last year and half, we'd eaten at McDonalds maybe three times. Yesterday was one of those times. We'd spent the entire long morning going from one car dealership to another, with the winds whipping around us. I (gracefully, of course) managed to stomp in a big puddle and was in a pretty foul mood. We thought, oh god, let's just stop at McDonalds while we're here. On the menu: two Big Mac meals, 6 chicken McNuggets to share, and a Cadbury McFlurry for me. I was really looking forward to that damn McFlurry as well. Maybe I ate it too quickly, maybe I really am lactose-intolerant (as I've suspected for many years now) maybe all the grease and non-good food before it made it impossible not to, but I felt so incredibly ill afterwards. I was really feeling sick to my stomach. It lasted most of the day, kind of petered out before dinner. I was perfectly fine until the highlight of my week, 24 started. Of course, of course, of course I should get abdominal pain and acid reflux just as my favourite show begins. All through both episodes, I end up squirming and groaning and being generally miserable. I can feel the burning acid coming up slowly, the back pain begins. Oh christ, this is exactly how my trip to the hospital with pancreatitis began, and what fond memories of that I have. Lesson learned: in no circumstances will I ever again succumb to the lure of greasy fast-food. (or maybe I should just skip dessert next time?)

  1. they don't generally keep those chake machines very clean so it was probably the mcflurry that did you in :(

  2. Thats a good point above....however I cut out fast food a couple of years ago while I was on a diet. I didn't have fast food hamburgers for at least 5 months...Then when I ate one, I became so sick that I didn't leave the bathroom for hours....Just a thought...gross but a thought...LOL

  4. Yuck we never ever go to McDonalds. In fact it is a bit of a running joke with us, one of us will suggest eating there when neither of us feels like cooking and suddenly cooking does not seem so bad after that.
