Library Loot

I regularly post lists of books I've taken out of the library. It turns out this idea has been turned into a weekly feature and co-hosted by Eva at A Striped Armchair and Alessandra at Out of the Blue.

The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster (renewed)
Affinity by Sarah Waters (recently watched the TV adaptation and enjoyed it)
Little Dorritt by Charles Dickens (ditto the above, though I fear it's too long for my limited concentration)
Slam by Nick Hornby
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson (I must have read a review of this somewhere)
A Mercy by Toni Morrison (At last! It's rare for my local library to have such a new book in stock!)

I also picked up three Thomas the Tank Engine books for Elliot. He carries them around whenever we're in the house and I've read them to him so often since Tuesday that he knows the stories by heart and 'reads' them to himself when I'm busy with other things. Thomas is his new obsession.

  2. I can't STAND Thomas. We're doing all we can to avoid train love at our house.

I reviewed Speak last year. I LOVED it. I have two more of the author's books on my TBR right now. I'd give you a link, but I'm lazy and my work computer spazzes if I have too many windows open. It's linked on the Books Read in 08 tab on the top of my blog!

  5. Thanks for sharing your read-alouds on my blog! Do write up a little piece on your blog next week (it's the A.A. Milne edition next week, but you can certainly just do your own thing, as well) and link us up!

The more people who play, the merrier! : )

Thanks again, and have fun reading Thomas! ; )

  6. That's an inspiring collection of books you have there. I have recently taken to ordering books from the library that are nominated for the Booker prize in the Sunday papers or recommended as a good read. I find it quite a treat when they arrive. It really cheers up my January.

  7. Trains are a big deal at our public library since it is located right next to one! I used to love to give directions to the library, cross the tracks and look right! Great haul! :)
