It's the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown
I told N that this year I'd like to visit a pumpkin patch. I'd like to take pictures of the boys surrounded by pumpkins and go on a hayride and have that whole experience. He said 'why don't you just watch that episode of Charlie Brown instead?' Which I thought was a great idea anyway, but not quite the same. Still, pumpkin patches aren't a huge thing around these parts but somehow he managed to find us one and I'm ecstatic. It's not happening until just before Halloween, so until then, there's always time for Charlie Brown...

Oh, I love the old Charlie Brown specials - this one and the Christmas one (the one with the scrawny tree and Linus explaining what Christmas was all about) being my favorites. I'm not particularly fond of the newer ones. I grew up watching these every year, and I've tried to get my kids into them, but they just don't seem as enamored as I'd have thought they would be. When I just asked my daughter if she knew who Peppermint Patty was, she replied "she's a girl on Strawberry Shortcake who doesn't like fun." (she's 6). My 10 year old son says "It sounds familiar. Who is he?" Ugh...
ReplyDeletei heart the original charlie brown cartoons so much...
ReplyDeleteHow cool! Y'all have a great time. In the meantime, I'll definitely be watching The Great Pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteOh no, how sad that kids today don't get Charlie Brown. I wonder how my two boys will react to it? I adore Charlie Brown. Linus is my favourite, he's so wise.
ReplyDeleteWe just went to a pumpkin patch last week. It was pretty fun. They also had a little train ride for the kids and that is all my son has talked about all week.
ReplyDeleteI tried to get my son to watch The Charlie Brown Halloween special last year but it did not hold his attention long. He did however bring up the great pumpkin on a number of occasions later.
