April in review

Ah, April. You were not a great month. I am very happy to see the back of you! I'm hoping it was a better month for you... Here's how things went, reading and blogging wise for me:

I'm being generous with the total number of books read this month. I probably shouldn't count Flat-Out Matt or What Really Happened in Peru as whole books, but there you go.  I'll admit, up until this past week, I didn't think I'd even make it to double digits this month but I managed to find my reading stride again finally!

Surprisingly, the format of books that I read the most this past month were e-books (of which 12 of the 17 books I read this month were e-books). I'm having a lot more success reading them than I am with physical books. Possibly because I'm reading them on the Kindle app on my iPhone rather than the Kindle itself? I'm not sure. Whatever the reason, it's effectively destroyed my reading slump!

And the book I read in April that was the best of the bunch...?


April Book of the Month:

It has to be Heroic by Phil Earle. He's a wonderfully consistent author for me. All three books by Phil Earle that I've read have finished with me quietly crying into my pillow at night. He writes stories that mean something to me with characters and relationships that feel very real and important.

Yep. I'm not at all surprised that there aren't more titles on this list after the month I've had. In fact, I'm pretty surprised that there are any books on the list at all!

And again with the massive fail on this personal challenge.  I should be at 40 books by now. Instead, I'm at 24. Which is 16 books behind.  Oh well. Maybe I can get caught up slowly over the year..?
